Question: what are some common reasons that it does that? it still spins but the top agitator will not work. if i press down on it it spins a litte but not as it should. how do i get that top piece off the agitator?
Answer: your agitator dogs are worn out this is an easy fix pop off the cover and remove the agitator nut and lift off the complete agitator grasp it firmly and snatch the agitator apart remove the old dogs and replace the new ones line up the 2 tips on the agitator base with the two holes in the top and snap the agitator back together see below picture:
