How does toner shampoo works??

Question: I have a dark blonde hair and I want to go lighter without painting it permanently... I want to know more about the toner.. if it will make my hair dry... and if it really works.. What is the best brand and I would like to see before and after pictures... I can't find it anywhere!! Thankss.

Answer: It's impossible to go to a lighter color without permanent results. Having said that, if you DO bleach your hair, using toner will help make it a slightly different tone (hence the name) For example, if you had buttery yellow blonde and wanted to go for a more platinum, icy look, you'd use a purple toned toner to make it a more cool shade. I've never heard of toner drying hair out; if anything, it probably conditions it more. I couldn't find any before and after toner pics either, sorry.
