Question: The local Harley shop is pushing Everlast 300 cca batteries for 1991-2008 Softtail ... I have a Yuasa battery that needs replacing. I don't even see Everlast batteries being sold by J&P Cycles in their catalog, so my suspicion is the local Harley shop is trying to dump crap battery inventory that they couldn't sell otherwise to floor customers in the know. Well, I'm not in the know. So, should I get the Everlast battery now from the shop or order replacement from J&P or another source? If I should order, any suggestions as to whether I should go Yuasa or with another with another trusty brand? (My bike has a 100 cu inch v-twin RevTech with 3" BDL, so it's it needs juice to get all that hardware started.) My bad, it's "EverStart" not "Everlast".
Answer: I've got a high compression 121" T.P It is a b!tch to turn over and requires a 2.2 KV starter. I've tried several batteries and the best I've found is the " Westco SVR". Not only does it have the amps to crank the big motor, but it lasts close to 3 years. It's the only one I'll use.
